I have been engaged in the practice of psychiatry for over 25 years. I am certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and certified as knowledgeable by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
I attended Rice University for my undergraduate work, and graduated summa cum laude, with a major in Psychology. I then graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine (now called the David Geffen School of medicine) and completed specialty training at the UCLA-Sepulveda VAH Psychiatric residency. Upon graduating, I established an outpatient psychiatric practice, and worked as well in a recovery unit for alcoholism and other addictions. While in private practice I became more involved in addiction treatments. I served as Clinical Director of two Dual Diagnosis Units in private psychiatric hospitals in the San Fernando Valley.
My experience includes private practice of psychiatry, and attending psychiatrist for a traditional Alcohol and Drug rehabilitation program. serving as a Medical Director of Humboldt County Behavioral Health (1995-1999) and Ventura County Behavioral Health (2002-2007). Inpatient Hospital experience includes the treatment of adolescents and adults, treatment in an inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation setting, and Clinical Directorships of Dual Diagnosis Addiction treatment units for two private psychiatric hospitals. I have also treated the more severely mentally ill, working as staff psychiatrist at a state forensic hospital.
I have also worked in the public sector,
both as Medical Director of Humboldt County Behavioral Health (1995-1999) and also Medical Director of Ventura County Behavioral Health (2002-2007). I also have experience at a state forensic hospital (working with Mentally Disordered Offenders). Presently, I am in solo private practice in association with Santa Barbara Behavioral Health, a multidisciplinary group made up of psychiatrists, psychologists, and LCSW’s.

I maintain memberships with American Psychiatric Association, the Southern California Psychiatric Society, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Based on my experience, I have also been awarded the title of Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
